Nearly two years after it first went to air, The Sounds of Aus is back on ABC 1 this Wednesday at 11AM. Take the morning off, I reckon. And ask the master to pass the banana.

University of Missouri screening
February 11, 2009 by icycreekThe Sounds of Aus had its first on-campus US screening on January 27 when it was shown to students and staff of the University of Missouri’s Journalism school in Columbia, which is the world’s oldest journalism education institution. Amongst the audience were students from Russia, Romania, China, Korea, and generated a lively discussion on what was the coldest day I’ve ever experienced.

November 13, 2008 by icycreekThe Sounds of Aus is a 55-minute documentary that tells the story of the Australian accent. Produced by Princess Pictures in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the program went to air for the first time on November 7, 2007. The Sounds of Aus is presented by John Clarke and was written by Lawrie Zion, who came up with original concept for the documentary. Yael Bergman produced the program, and it was directed by David Swann.
